Bintan Lagoon Resort, A Family Resort of Endless Fun & Variety

Perched on the magnificent Pasir Panjang Beach, overlooking the majestic South China Sea, Bintan Lagoon Resort is a tropical paradise, home to sun and two spectacular golf course. This 470 room resort is sprawled over 310 hectares of manicured garden, with a private and golden sand beach that stretches nearly 1.5km.

iwa Design re-design the mundane looking main restaurant to endless fun with unlimited imagination dining experience with conscious environmental effort. 

Connect inside & outside 

By truly understanding local climate and environment, the main gallery at the lower level is bright breezy with natural lighting ventilation maximized by the use of glass ceiling panels and ceiling-mounted fans.

The minimal design encourages guests to soak in the views of the horizon, sea, lush resort environment  and unobstructed views of the the majestic South China Sea while they enjoy inter-continental dining.

The Teochew Entrepreneur Award (TEA) is an inaugural award organized by Teochew Poit Ip Huay Kuan, Local International Affairs (LIA) committee.

The Teochew Entrepreneur Award aims to celebrate and promote successful and promising Teochew entrepreneurs who not only contribute to the business community and economy but also the social community.

•  Identify and honor established Teochew business men for their outstanding achievements and contribution to the society and to serve as guiding role models

•  Recognize the spirit of entrepreneurship and preserve and promote the Teochew businessman values of courage, perseverance, determination, diligence and innovation in their entrepreneurship journey.

Food court plays a vital part of the daily lifestyle of the people in Singapore for some decades. Together with Kopitiam Investment Pte Ltd and Changi Airport Group, iwa Design revitalised the five-year-old Kopitiam (food court) at Changi Airport Terminal 3 where modern lines and traditional touches combine to provide a true taste of Singapore. Kopitiam is a favourite dining place that welcomes both foreign visitors and Singaporeans to satisfy their palates for local food while visiting the renowned Changi International Airport. Apart from providing an essential spatial flow, the design concept explores the use of natural textures and traditional rustic elements. Modern lines with timeless colour schemes and special lighting effects created a distinctive, bright and uncluttered food court. Birdcages, hanging ornaments, flowing porticos and nostalgic portals containing iconic vintage pieces feature throughout to capture memories of the colonial influence of country. Be it a timeless brick wall, ornate rusty watering can, photo frames capturing childhood memories or vintage household appliances. The design concept captures the true expressions of a uniquely Singaporean Food Court.

Le Cuisine, a new restaurant concept, was launched at Chinatown Point, Singapore in March 2014. The iwa team incepted the design concept based on the client's request to showcase a local celebrity chef’s passion for French inspired cooking, hosted in a patio concept that offers a homely, down-to-earth dining style.

The site was very limiting, being an open area with only a high wall on one side and an open ceiling expanding into the double volume space of the mall’s atrium. This challenge was seized by iwa’s designers who transformed the huge wall into a central feature to accentuate the restaurant’s alfresco feel.

Inaugurated in 1989 by the Rotary Club of Singapore, The Entrepreneur of the Year Award (EYA) is the oldest Award in Singapore that honours local entrepreneurs who have shown outstanding performance as business owners, be they emerging or established enterprises, in their respective industry fields.

Upholding the prestige of the Award, EYA prides itself for the high qualifying criteria, rigorous rounds of site visits and stringent judging processes.

Into its 24th year of recognising and honouring deserving entrepreneurs, the Award has over the years established itself as a prestigious business accolade which enterprises can leverage upon to achieve greater success, especially in today's trying business environment. This year’s Award theme is the pinwheel, aptly representing today's entrepreneur, facing challenges which may come from any direction and continuing to spin proudly in the wind, becoming a true 360 degree entrepreneur.

EYA FOR INNOVATION

This is awarded to the Top Entrepreneur who has shown the highest level of engagement in information and process technologies to facilitate industry innovation, research and development initiatives to create products and services that facilitate value-add. This Award will be given to the Top Entrepreneur who tops the Innovation and Knowledge Management segment of the Judging Criteria.

The Spirit of Enterprise Award is an annual national award conferred to deserving business entrepreneurs to honour their outstanding achievements. It aims to recognise our local entrepreneurs' courage, perseverance and innovation in their journey of entrepreneurship. These local entrepreneurs serve to become role models for our young Singaporeans to emulate and to inspire the youths to take the bold step in becoming enterprising entrepreneurs.

The SOE Awards honour and recognise our local entrepreneurs' achievements. Honourees are selected from SOE nominees interviewed by our student interviewers, and represent the pinnacle of contribution towards the economic development of Singapore.

Dorothy is one of the Honourees to be featured in “Will-To-Win… Igniting the entrepreneurial passion within” book published in 2012. iwa Design is proud to have Dorothy to achieve Honourees in Spirit of Enterprise award.
